DHM Design was hired by Commerce City to create a master plan for the complete renovation of Veterans Memorial Park. Services included design, construction documents and construction observation for the park located at the corner of Parkway Drive and Forest Drive adjacent to Eagle Pointe Recreation Center. The project includes the replacement of the existing play area with an All Inclusive Playground called “Eagles Nest”, surrounded by picnic facilities, seating areas, a natural play area, restroom, bird themed sculptural elements and open lawn play areas. The project also included a natural rock climbing playground with interpretive displays, a labyrinth and a looped walkway system that provides connectivity between the recreation center, park, memorial and the adjacent neighborhood. Many of the existing trees were preserved creating shade and a mature landscape setting.
