Sunset Ridge Residence

Located on a mesa 500 feet above valley floor and the Town of Telluride, this residence commands expansive views of the San Juan mountains, including several 14,000’ peaks. The design of the home reflects the character and landform of the site. Carefully sited amongst stands of existing gambel oaks, the building is tucked into a small rise in the land and steps naturally with the grade, descending toward the valley. Disturbance to the land is minimized, and native plantings surround the house and cross through the developed landscape. A planted roof over the garage connects the house to the native meadow context of the site. The site design includes a small lawn and gardens, waterfall and stream, pond, fire pits with stone seating, and an outdoor cabana with kitchen.
