Thoughtful planning and design were required to enhance a home in this sensitive environment along the banks of the Roaring Fork River. Decisions for the site complemented the architecture and setting with a landscape that transitions from a highly detailed contemporary garden down to a restored native riparian environment along the riverfront. As avid collectors of art, and unique natural history and historical objects, the owners wanted pieces of their collection to be thoughtfully integrated into the design of the landscape. Outdoor living space was a key element of the design, including patio and garden spaces, an outdoor kitchen, and a custom fire feature that overlooks the river. Large, flexible spaces off the living room and master bedroom include a spa, cabana lounge area and patios to accommodate small or large gatherings.
DHM worked closely with the client and design team to ensure that all pieces of the design worked together to create a cohesive whole and support the client’s vision for the property and their lifestyle. Throughout the landscape, great detail was put into the selection of plant and hardscape design and materials to create an environment unique to the aesthetics and tastes of the client that compliments the design of the contemporary architecture and interior design.
