DHM worked with J&T Consulting to provide design services for the development of a corridor to accommodate comfortable and safe pedestrian circulation adjacent to this reservoir. The reservoir serves as a fishing and wildlife habitat. Design services included trail alignment design, landscape design, lighting, irrigation, grading, signage, and specialty amenity design. The project included extension of the reservoir embankment to stabilize the shoreline as well as enhancements to the park area.
A raised overlook was added to the shoreline to provide a destination for residents to gather and view the lake and wildlife in the park. It contains a shade structure with a seating wall, natural stone seat benches, and traditional benches. A separate area was created using terraced steps leading up to the water’s edge, creating fishing opportunities regardless of the reservoir’s water fluctuation. A trail system around the lake was incorporated to facilitate pedestrian access to the entire park. All areas of the trail system can be reached through ADA compliant access routes.
