Clear W Ranch

Pitkin County, Colorado

DHM provided master planning and conceptual design for Clear W Ranch, which is comprised of approximately 550 acres which was the Popish homestead. Located in a secluded valley near Snowmass, the site has a variety of diverse ecosystems including: pasture grasslands, mixed sagebrush, native grasslands, east and west facing oak brush, aspen forests, and wetlands. Portions of the site have been identified by the Colorado Department of Wildlife as primary elk production habitat within the Roaring Fork Valley. The unique ecosystems are critical habitat areas for native species and aid in the migration of wildlife. The site’s ecosystems and wildlife habitats are the basis for the design of the master plan; the overarching goals are coexistence, enhancement, and preservation of the natural character of the site. The final master plan includes new ranch facilities, grazing pastures, a main house with pool and spa, guest cottage, expanded ponds, 15 acres of wetland restoration, and wildlife viewing blinds.
