I recently came across the work of artist Bruce Munro while looking for creative lighting ideas for a park project and was immediately drawn to his work.

Munro has been a practicing artist for the last 30 years and is known for his large scale light based installations which have been shown around the world. Munro was born in London, in 1959 and art played an important role in his life from an early age. His varied life pursuits and studies led him to an early career in lighting and manufacturing which eventually led to his professional art career and the large scale works he is known for today.

Many of Munro’s works are set in the landscape in botanical gardens and parks and several pieces have been shown in multiple locations creating new and varied experiences with each installation. As a landscape architect, I find his work inspiring; demonstrating how lighting can impact and shape the environment in beautiful, creative and expressive ways.

Bruce Monro has two upcoming exhibitions scheduled in the United States: November 10th -April 9th 2017 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, MN and June 3rd -November 5th 2017 at the Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens in Rockford, IL. You can also check out more of his work here!
