For those of us that don’t have trees on our property but still yearn for that treehouse feel, Patrick Dougherty’s work offers a source of inspiration.  Dougherty has been building out of tree saplings for almost thirty years now. He has over two hundred sculptures located throughout the world. He spent one September building an environmental sculpture at my alma mater, Middlebury College. How I wish that I could have been a student then so that I could have participated in that event. I find the process of his building as inspiring as the finished product with both creating profound impacts on the communities in which he works; a wonderful testament to the power of the imagination as inspired by our natural surroundings.
