Early in 2004, Intrawest Placemaking asked DHM Design to assist them with refinement and implementation of the master plan for Winter Park base redevelopment. DHM’s directive as lead planner and landscape architect was to help realize the potential for the base area, including a new resort village. This pedestrian village is the anchor for the base area at Winter Park with shopping, dining, and outdoor entertainment and recreation areas all served by a day skier parking garage. The village is closely linked to the Fraser River corridor as a natural attraction and amenity; creating both a natural and urban experience for resort visitors. DHM Design was also responsible for site planning and design of several condominium projects within the base area, as well as outlying parking, cabriolet connections, and lower density residential areas.
